Data Quality in Data Migration: 3 Podcasts including Transcripts are now available

The correct approach to data quality within data migration projects is pivotal.

Our sister community Data Migration Pro has recently completed another online coaching class exploring the issue of data quality and best-practices, the podcast and written transcript of the coaching session are now also available here on Data Quality Pro.

The Coaching Sessions

So far on Data Migration Pro we have covered a wide range of issues primarily focusing on data quality, why companies ignore it, the impact this causes and some recommendations for improvement.

John Morris of data migration specialists Iergo is a leading data migration guru, data quality envangelist and author of Practical Data Migration. John sat in on the sessions and gave some battle-hardened experience and insight including detailed explanations of subjects like data quality rules from his own methodology published in his book.

The format we take on the online sessions is to have a free web facility where people can log in and post questions in real-time.

In our goal to keep the communities and their services absolutely free we've received strong support for these coaching classes so expect to also see the format on Data Quality Pro very soon.

Tip: Why not use our feedback form to add your suggestions for future data quality coaching sessions?

These are the sessions we've covered so far:
  • Session 1: "Data Quality Misconceptions in Data Migration Projects"
  • Session 2: "Data Quality Rules Process in Data Migration Projects"
  • Session 3: "How to get the Business Bought Into Data Migration Best-Practice"

The Lessons Can Be Applied Elsewhere

With the written transcripts also available you can quickly identify the best-practices that need to be adopted not just in your data migration projects but also data integration, MDM, business intelligence - the lessons apply to all manner of other disciplines.

Although the focus is on data migration, our discussions on data quality rules and data quality misconceptions for example apply to nearly all data related projects so they're well worth a read or a listen.

Getting Hold of the Session Recordings

There are now two ways you can get hold of the podcasts and transcripts.
